About the Orchestra

The Coral Reef Senior High School Orchestra

The Coral Reef Senior High School Orchestra program is recognized as one of the top ensembles in Miami-Dade County and across the State of Florida. The orchestra program for the past 20 years has provided an elite and advanced orchestral setting that challenges students to excel above and beyond their musical and technical skills.  Courses offered consist of performance-based ensembles: Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Concert Orchestra, which perform Operas, Broadway show musicals and the full Nutcracker Ballet.  Students in these classes focus on individual instrumental technique, solo repertoire, and playing as an ensemble. Our school is the proud host of the yearly Orchestra MPA (Music Performance Assessments). All three of our orchestras consistently receive straight Superior ratings at both District and State MPAs. The orchestras have had the opportunity to travel both within Florida and throughout the nation.  Through their travels, our students have worked with named artists, symphony and Broadway show conductors and developed a close relationship with the University of Miami and Florida International University.  

Entry into Coral Reef and its orchestra program is by application and audition only. We strive to be competitive on the local and state levels in all phases of instrumental education and performance.
